Hutchens Attorneys Receive Highest Rating by Martindale-Hubbell

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., (Dec. 31, 2013) — Hutchens Law Firm attorneys Lauren Thurmond and Andrew Cogbill from the firm’s Charlotte office and Erik Bennington from the firm’s Wilmington office have each received AV Ratings from Martindale-Hubbell®, its highest rating for the legal profession.

The Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ are an objective indicator of a lawyer's high ethical standards and professional ability, generated from evaluations of lawyers by other members of the bar and the judiciary in the United States and Canada. The first review to establish a lawyer's rating usually occurs three years after his/her first admission to the bar. A threshold number of responses is required to achieve a rating.

Thurmond is a partner at Hutchens Law Firm who concentrates her practice on the default servicing mortgage industry. She represents substitute trustees, national mortgage lenders, servicers and investors in foreclosure and creditors’ rights actions in North Carolina. Ms. Thurmond frequently speaks at educational seminars and industry conferences for lender and mortgage servicers throughout the country. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and currently serves as chair of the Real Property section of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association.

Cogbill, an associate, practices in the areas of real estate and litigation. He is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association (Real Property Section), and the South Carolina Bar Association (Real Estate Section).

Bennington, an associate, practices in the areas of real estate, litigation, and social security disability claims. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the New Hanover County Bar Association, North Carolina Advocates for Justice, and is admitted to practice in U.S. District Court, Eastern and Middle Districts of N.C.
