Attorney Chris Foster Receives 2014 Legal Elite Young Guns Award

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., (Jan. 16, 2014) — Hutchens Law Firm attorney Christopher D. Foster has been named one of Business North Carolina magazine’s 2014 Legal Elite “Young Guns.” He is one of just 56 attorneys named to this prestigious list of up and coming lawyers.

Since 2002, Business North Carolina (BNC) has honored Tar Heel lawyers by publishing the Legal Elite, a listing of the state’s top lawyers across a variety of practice areas. Winners are chosen not by BNC editors but by peer review. This year’s selection was open to the more than 20,000 active members of the N.C. State Bar. Lawyers were not allowed to vote for themselves and could choose another associate or partner only if they were with another firm practicing the same category of law. About three percent of the state’s lawyers — 688, to be exact — made the “Legal Elite” this year.

Foster works at Hutchens’ Fayetteville office and concentrates his areas of practice in wills, trusts, and estates, as well as business/corporate law, tax exempt organizations, employee benefits, and tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

He has a Bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College where he graduated cum laude and with honors in Political Science. While there he was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha and a recipient of the Order of the Omega. He was also a Belk Scholar and a Taylor Stukes Scholar, which is awarded to the most promising legal student in each graduating class. Foster received an MBA from the University of South Carolina, Moore School of Business where he graduated class valedictorian (4.0 GPA) and was inducted into the international honor society Beta Gamma Sigma. He received a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina where he served as a member of the international legal honor society Phi Delta Phi and on the editorial staff of the Journal of International Law and Business. He also holds a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law.
